GAELIC GAMES NEWS Gerry McLaughlin and Daragh O'Conchuir DONEGALwill be appealing the Central Disciplinary Committee's(CDC) decision to slap a four month ban on their vice-captain Paddy Campbell. And a source close to the county board said they were confident the upcoming appeal to the Central Appeals Committee(CAC) would be successful.
Following a meeting of the executive it was decided to lodge an appeal which is expected to be heard sometime next week. It is believed that Donegal are citing the length of time it has taken to look at the Campbell case as part of their argument. The source added that Donegal would consider appealing the matter to the DRA if they are not successful next week.
Meanwhile Offaly midfielder Alan McNamee is a major injury doubt for his side's All Ireland SFC qualifier with neighbours Laois in Portlaoise next Sunday. The Rhode man has been complaining of a sore calf in recent days and with medical staff unsure as to the exact nature of the problem, he went for a scan on Friday and is expecting to have the results in the next couple of days.
McNamee has been in flying form for Kevin Kilmurry's team throughout their run to the Leinster final, although that game ended in disappointment for the 23year-old, with a second half dismissal. McNamee's absence would be a huge blow to Offaly, given his role in their tactical make-up, as a ball winner and supplier to the inside men Thomas Deehan and younger brother Niall.
