GAA president Nickey Brennan has re-established a national committee that gives Croke Park the final say on any sale of grounds on foot of the unprecedented interest by developers in GAA county and club grounds.
Speaking at a GAA meeting in New York, the president confirmed that the committee is now in operation again under the chairmanship of Dan McCartan.
Grounds will not be sold without prior permission from this committee.
Brennan said that due to the recent upsurge in value of GAA property and with a number of grounds under speculation, necessary guidelines had to be put in place.
"Any board that is considering selling off property will have to come before us and put forward their proposal for sale. It's not possible for members to make a decision to sell off their grounds.
They'll have to get the OK from Croke Park first."
The move comes as a local report suggest that an 80 million offer has been tabled for Cusack Park, Ennis. Other grounds targeted include St Conleth's Park, Newbridge and Cusack Park, Mullingar.
