Gavin to green up Ormeau Bakery

LANDMARK Belfast building, the Ormeau Bakery is set to undergo some green treatment, with celebrity gardener Diarmuid Gavin about to create an inspirational garden with a difference for the impressive building, which is being re-developed as an upmarket apartment scheme.

A multi-million euro development project, the old Ormeau Bakery will house 156 apartments with ground floor retail units, and parking facilities. The gardens will be courtyard style, and will complement the look of the development, which blends old and new architecture. Original features such as the terrazzo tiled entrance foyer, cantilevered staircase and old clock will be restored. Apartments will have views over Ormeau Park, the Botanic Gardens and South Belfast.
