England's batsmen struggled once again to post a challenging NatWest Series total yesterday as Pakistan's talented pace attack took advantage of ideal conditions at Lord's.
Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif tormented the hosts with the new ball and England were hard-pushed to muster 113 for six by the 30-over mark in a match reduced to 40a-side thanks to morning rain.
Captain Andrew Strauss went to his first ball, getting a thin edge behind when Shoaib put one in just the right place, before Marcus Trescothick, Ian Bell, Jamie Dalrymple and Paul Collingwood all fell without much resistence.
