THIS weekend's launch of Blackthorn, the latest residential scheme from Durkan New Homes, is expected to generate quite a bit of interest, from both first-time buyers and those trading up.
At the edge of Rathcoole village in Co Dublin, Blackthorn is a large scheme comprising 82 low-rise apartments and 25 houses.
Designed by architects Fenton Simons, Blackthorn has a really good mix of homes from one-bed apartments to three-bed duplexes, along with a range of good-sized three and four-bed semi-detached houses. Work is well under way here and the first phase is due to be ready from next month. Close to the village, Blackthorn is a short walk from shops, bus routes and nearby schools, while the N7 motorway is just a few minutes drive away.
The proposed extension of the Luas line to Citywest, which is just five minutes drive away, is also expected to add to the capital appreciation of these homes.
One-bed units have a floor area of 45sq m (484sq ft), while two-beds are around 73sq m (786sq ft). Also available in this phase are some three-bed duplexes which are quite spacious ranging from 111sq m to 112sq m (1195sq ft to 1206sq ft).
Two and three-bed terraced houses range from around 72sq m to 100sq m (775sq ft to 1076sq ft), while four-bed semis have a floor area of 132sq m (1421sq ft).
Homes here come with some good standard features including fitted Nolan kitchens, monoblock sanitaryware in bathrooms and en-suites, ash veneered internal doors, built-in wardrobes in all bedrooms and surface car parking. Houses will have gardens, while apartments will have access to landscaped courtyard-style communal areas.
Price: one-bed apartments from 275,000, two-beds from 335,000, threebeds from 425,000 and four-beds from 575,000.
