GAME OF THE YEAR
1Waterford 1-22 Tipperary 3-13, All Ireland quarter-final Waterford mightn't seem to ever be able to get to an All Ireland "nal, but every year they seem to be in this category. And at least this one was in Croke Park.

2Cork 1-16 Waterford 1-15, All Ireland semi-final Maybe not the epic we thought it was at the time, given that Cork were a tired team waiting to be beaten and Waterford for all their momentum still couldn't beat them. Gripping stuff nonetheless.

3Cork 2-14 Tipperary 1-14, Munster final The best "rst half of the year, adorned by the best goal of the year, followed by possibly the tensest second half.

CONTROVERSIES OF THE YEAR
1The Croke Park pitch - for four of the last seven years now, this one has topped the list. Crazy.
2Lough[nane], The Cop and One Smoking Barrel: The Clare GUBU Controversy
3The sliotars controversy
4The date, venue and postponement of the Ulster final
5Babs and Redser and Webster

GOAL OF THE YEAR
1Ben O'Connor, Cork v Tipperary, Munster final It started in Brian Murphy's corner and ended in the corner of Brendan Cummins' net. In between there was an immaculate crossfield ball by Ronan Curran and some intricate interlink play by the roadrunners that are O'Connor, Timmy McCarthy and Tom Kenny. A week after an immortal 24-pass goal in Germany, it was just like watching Argentina. All it was missing was a Hernan Crespo backheel.

2Henry Shefflin, Kilkenny v Wexford, Leinster final In the 2003 All Ireland it was Sheffiin who fed Comerford for the goal.

Since then Comerford has repeatedly returned the compliment, including this assist which Sheffin doubled first time to the top corner of the net.

3Dan Shanahan, Waterford v Tipperary, Munster semi-final He'd score a beauty against the same opposition in Croke Park but Dan The Man had even more to do in Cork when he caught this ball out on the wing.

POINTS OF THE YEAR
1Eoin Kelly, Tipperary v Limerick, Munster first round Quite a selection to choose from this game, considering he scored 14 in all. The pick of the best though was when he sprinted from the edge of the square out to the centre-forward spot, and with one touch of his hurley overhead, controlled a massive Brendan Cummins clearance, and with one more touch, brought it into his hand to strike off his left from 30 yards out.

2Tom Kenny, Cork v Clare, Munster semi-final This was Cork's best performance of the year but it's easy to forget that in the first quarter they were seriously struggling until Kenny's incredible run and point right through the middle of the Clare defence turned the whole game.

3Eoin Kelly, Tipperary v Waterford, Munster semi-final Again, another effort from the Munster championship, this time when Kelly came out to centre forward, rose above a rampant James Murray, caught it and from 40 yards banged it over his shoulder and over the bar.
