The Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPA) in Ireland has appointed Kathryn Burns technical services executive.
Previously, Burns was corporate finance executive in Irish accountancy firm Farrell Grant Sparks. Burns will be part of the member services team, which delivers assistance to CPA Institute members in Ireland and abroad. Burns is set to enhance the current range of support services offered to members, with a particular focus on members working in business.
IT management software company CA has appointed Ken Moran account director of its Northern Ireland business. This senior position will see him spearhead CA's business drive in the region, with particular emphasis on the public sector.
Moran has substantial knowledge of the public sector in Northern Ireland. He joins CA from Cable & Wireless where he headed up the Energis public sector division. Prior to this, he was vice-president and director at Meridio and Unibol respectively.
Gerry Reid has been appointed sales manager at MJ Flood Technology, a provider of communications solutions. He will be tasked with driving the company's mid-market business opportunities, with particular emphasis on services growth and expanding the existing support base.
Previously, Reid was business development manager with EDS GFS Ireland. He also spent five years as sales director with network integrator iCom Technology.
Robert Grier has been elected president of the Institute of Directors in Ireland (IoD) for a second term. He will continue to chair the management committee of the IoD Centre of Corporate Governance at UCD.
Grier is an employer member of the Labour Court, having been appointed in 2003 by the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment. Prior to this he was director of corporate affairs with IBEC.
The Simple Overseas Properties Group has appointed Noelle Brooks to handle its public relations (PR) account. Brooks has more than 16 years' experience in PR, handling a wide range of accounts including travel, consumer, corporate and property. The company has offices in Ireland, Spain and Wales and plans to expand into the UK market.
Patrick Naughton has been appointed mortgage manager at IIB Bank's mid-west regional office in Limerick. Naughton has extensive experience in both the mortgage and property market. He previously worked with Irish Permanent in Donegal and the Mortgage Department in Limerick. He joins from Mortgage Zone, part of O'Connor Murphy Gubbins in Limerick, where he managed the mortgage brokerage side of the business for four years.
Michael McGlennon has been appointed associate director, with responsibility for fire engineering and fire safety, at White Young Green. He will be in charge of setting up and delivering a range of fire engineering services, including fire safety advice, training, certification and audits across all company offices in Ireland. McGlennon has more than 19 years' building regulations experience, which includes working as principal building control officer for North Down Borough Council. He was also heavily involved with fire safety through employment at various other councils.
