Sat 23 September 'Rare Plants & Autumn Glories', a day-long seminar and plant sale at Fota House, Carrigtohill. Co Cork.

Speakers are Daphne Levinge Shackleton, Brian Cross and Oliver Schurmann. Cost: 45 (excluding lunch) but including a guided walk through Fota's splendid arboretum.

Admission to plant sale only, between 3pm and 4pm, costs 10. Booking for seminar essential.

Sun 1 October European Agricultural Biodiversity Day at Irish Seedsavers Association (ISSA), Capparoe, Co Clare. A day of workshops and other activities focusing on native Irish farming and growing traditions, Irish cultivars, animal breeds and tool making. Workshops must be booked in advance but there are plenty of other interesting activities for both adults and children. Booking and more information from info@irishseedsavers. ie
