KIERAN McGEENEY (Armagh)
Switched to midfield this year as Armagh won in Ulster but fell to Kerry
WHAT ARE KERRY'S RESPECTIVE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?
With sides like this, it's a game-to-game thing. They vary and you can't look at their last day out and say that we'll get them here in this position. Their strengths are in Seamus Moynihan who is still a top man regardless of what people say. He's had a good year. But it's up to Mayo to contain him and make them look weak around the park.
WHAT ARE MAYO'S RESPECTIVE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?
Mayo have been very strong with McGarrity and Harte playing very well together. The fact that McGarrity has had to come off a couple of times is probably a measure of how influential he is, that people are getting physical with him. They've been very good on the bench as well with the like of Kilcoyne and O'Neill, although he's starting this time, available to come in.
IN WHAT AREAS ARE THE KEY BATTLES AND WHO ARE THE MEN WHO WILL DECIDE THE ALL IRELAND DESTINATION?
The key is going to be McGarrity and O Se in the middle. I think Darragh has won the last few games for Kerry, since they beat Longford right up until now. He's been immense. People have highlighted Donaghy whereas I would have looked at O Se. If he wasn't winning ball there'd be none going into the forwards. And it's where Mayo have to come in and make an impact.
VERDICT
MAYO
It depends on how true these rumours are about Ciaran McDonald. If he's not there it will be a huge blow but if he is, I'd have to go with Mayo, but not by much.
PADRAIC JOYCE (Galway)
Lost by a point to Mayo in the Connacht final before bowing out to Westmeath
WHAT ARE KERRY'S RESPECTIVE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?
They have good players across the pitch but they are particularly strong around the midfield and half-back lines where they win a huge amount of breaks. They seem to be gone a bit one-dimensional up front but that could all change today and the Gooch is due a big game and what better stage to have one. I wouldn't be surprised if it's his day.
WHAT ARE MAYO'S RESPECTIVE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?
This year, they've had three or four forwards scoring regularly for them which they've never had before. And any game they've won, they've pulled though by just a couple and they've showed really great spirit and there seems to be this great character in the team this time around.
IN WHAT AREAS ARE THE KEY BATTLES AND WHO ARE THE MEN WHO WILL DECIDE THE ALL IRELAND DESTINATION?
If they line out as selected you have to look at the performance of the Mayo full-back line and especially how David Heaney gets on against Donaghy. There's also O Se and McGarrity. The third key battle will be whoever Kerry decide to put on McDonald. He's having a great year and an awful lot of ball passes go through him and Kerry will have to try and cut that back.
VERDICT
KERRY
I wouldn't rule out the draw. It's going to so tight but you have to tip Kerry in the end by a point or two although it's the sort of game nobody will want to put their neck on the block for.
CIARAN WHELAN (Dublin)
Captured his second Leinster in as many years before losing an epic to Mayo
WHAT ARE KERRY'S RESPECTIVE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?
Kerry are quite a balanced team and very experienced but their real ace card this year has been Donaghy up in the forward line.
And when you have Mike Frank, who has his confidence back, and the Gooch coming in with a very low profile, that leaves a huge threat up there. Behind them there's a very strong spine.
Darragh O Se has been immense and Seamus Moynihan has had a very good year too. They look impressive in a lot of areas.
WHAT ARE MAYO'S RESPECTIVE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?
Again they have very good forwards. It's the best unit they've had up that end of the field in a long time, with the likes of Conor Mortimer, Alan Dillon and Ciaran McDonald all playing at a very high level.
There are a lot of guys there getting scores regularly for them.
Ronan McGarrity and Pat Harte are an impressive partnership as well and will get the better of most sides they face.
IN WHAT AREAS ARE THE KEY BATTLES AND WHO ARE THE MEN WHO WILL DECIDE THE ALL IRELAND DESTINATION?
It will be a real battle of the forwards. Whichever side clicks the better up there will be in control. And because of that midfield will be a huge as will the tussle between whoever Kerry designate to pick up McDonald, probably Aidan O'Mahony.
VERDICT
KERRY
It's very difficult for a team, at intercounty level, to put in a performance like Mayo did against us. And they'll have to perform to that level to win it but it's too much of an ask and they will be two or three adrift.
ANTHONY LYNCH (Cork)
Saw both sides of Kerry, beating them in Munster but lost All Ireland semi-final.
WHAT ARE KERRY'S RESPECTIVE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?
Darragh O Se has been immense and I think Tommy Griffin is complementing him very well. He's doing a lot of the hard work in there. When we beat them, they were a different looking side.
Kieran Donaghy wasn't in at full forward. That has added a whole new aspect and since then, others have upped there game because of this dimension which has made them less predictable.
WHAT ARE MAYO'S RESPECTIVE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?
We played them earlier in the year and we found them very hard to play against. Their half-forward line we coming way back to collect ball and even though they were playing that far back, they got the ball forward very well and Ger Brady played a big role in all of that.
Peader Gardiner, as well, seems to make a lot of runs at great pace to bring the ball over the gain-line as it were.
IN WHAT AREAS ARE THE KEY BATTLES AND WHO ARE THE MEN WHO WILL DECIDE THE ALL IRELAND DESTINATION?
It'll be interesting to see how the midfield pairings get on. O Se and McGarrity will be crucial and obviously Heaney and Donaghy is another one. You also have to look at how well McDonald is going to play. Personally, I think he's a great great player and if he does play well, Mayo are in with a real chance.
VERDICT
KERRY
It's a bit of a cliche and easy to go for Kerry by a point or two. But I really don't think Mayo will be far off and if they do win it I wouldn't be surprised at all because despite what people are saying, there's very little in it.
PADDY BRADLEY (Derry)
Started with win over champions Tyrone but ultimately fell to Longford
WHAT ARE KERRY'S RESPECTIVE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?
After going out to Cork in the Munster final people were writing them off but they've done really well to get things back on the road and the win against Armagh got their momentum back.
They suddenly have a belief. They were on a high and inside everyone is talking about Kieran Donaghy while Mike Frank is playing the best he has in the last few years. On top of that there is Seamus Moynihan and Darragh O Se to contend with.
WHAT ARE MAYO'S RESPECTIVE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?
Mayo have always been known for having these great footballers who could never pull it off. Everyone is talking now though about the Mayo-Dublin game and the resilience they showed. You'd never have associated that with Mayo in the past. That will give them really great belief. The changes Mickey Moran made paid of as well and they seem to have a stronger panel with real class available to come in throughout.
IN WHAT AREAS ARE THE KEY BATTLES AND WHO ARE THE MEN WHO WILL DECIDE THE ALL IRELAND DESTINATION?
Seamus Moynihan on Ciaran McDonald will be huge. Ciaran is a brilliant football and he's a wonderful passer. If he's forced deep and made to defend then he won't be able to do that and the likes of Conor Mortimer won't get the supply that they can cause damage off. There are also the obvious match-ups as well like McGarrity on O Se and Heaney on Donaghy.
VERDICT
MAYO
It's the sort of game I'd love to sit on the fence for but I'll go with Mayo. The whole country wants to see Mayo win after coming so close and I'm very friendly with the Bradys so I hope they can pull it off.
