GARDAI in Cork investigating the death of a 47-year-old Brazilian man arrested a fellow national yesterday morning for questioning in relation to the killing.
The dead man has been named as Alberto Do Prado Oliviera, an immigrant worker in the locality. A murder investigation was launched after gardai were alerted to an incident which occurred near a residential property at Charleville, Cork, on Thursday night. Gardai found the victim's body at the scene.
A preliminary forensic investigation was conducted at the apartment where the dead man was found. The results of a post mortem carried out on the body established that he died after being fatally stabbed.
Investigating detectives have since interviewed a number of men who were in the apartment on Main Street, Charleville, when the incident was reported.
A 43-year-old Brazilian national was arrested in Charleville at around 7.40am yesterday and continued to be questioned yesterday afternoon at Mallow garda station with the aid of an interpreter.
