RACING: LISTOWEL PREVIEW LISTOWEL'S Harvest Festival comes to a close today, and ground conditions at the Kerry venue are very different to those on the opening day, with the underfoot conditions described as heavy.
Kerry National hero Ruby Walsh has a good chance of collecting with Chicago Vic in the Dawn Pure Orange Juice Beginners Chase, despite the fact that the heavy going will not be to her liking.
The mare's trainer Eric McNamara is four-handed in the Dawn Omega Milk Handicap Hurdle, and Fourpointone is the one fancied to take the spoils under Brian Byrnes. The Dawn Milk Handicap Chase is the feature event on the card and it has attracted a small, but select field. The weights are headed by Sean O'Brien's good servant Strong Project who must give away weight all round. However, he has not been seen out since chasing home Ransboro at Killarney in early May, and it may pay to look elsewhere for the winner.
The veteran Adamant Approach belied his years with a cracking run over hurdles at Cork two weeks ago when filling the runner-up spot behind his stable-companion Euro Leader, and his handler Willie Mullins immediately indicated that the 12 year-old would revert to fences at Listowel.
He is sure to give a good account of himself, but preference is for Waltons Mountain who is in the care of Willie's younger brother Tony.
The selection was an unlucky loser at Tralee last time when taking a crashing fall at the final obstacle of the Denny Gold Medal Chase.
