Man taken to hospital after Dublin stabbing
A STABBING in Dublin city early yesterday left a man in a serious condition in hospital.
The 42-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach before his two assailants stole his wallet.
He was brought to the Mater Hospital after the attack on St Alphonsus Road in Drumcondra.
Both his attackers were believed to have eastern European accents.
Two men hospitalised after separate stabbing incidents in Cork
TWO men were in hospital in Cork yesterday following separate stabbing incidents. A 24-year-old man was discovered outside Murphy's pub in Ballyvolane at 2am yesterday and brought to Cork University Hospital, where he is in a stable condition.
Another man was recovering in hospital after being stabbed in the arm in the St John's Well area.
Irishman kidnapped in Nigeria due back in Ireland yesterday
THE Irishman released by his kidnappers in Nigeria earlier this week was due to return home to Ireland yesterday afternoon.
Brian Fogarty, 39, spent 10 days in captivity, held hostage by armed men in a jungle camp.
Fogarty was reunited with his family in London on Friday and was scheduled to fly into Shannon airport yesterday evening.

People Before Profit Alliance takes to the country's streets
THE People Before Profit Alliance took to the streets yesterday to bring attention to issues affecting residents' lives.
Stalls were erected in Dun Laoghaire, Ballyfermot, Artane, and Galway to inform the public about the alliance and the issues they are campaigning for.
The group was set up in October 2005 by workers from a number of local groups.
Community Games finals take place at Mosney today
THE Community Games finals will see over 6,000 children, aged six to 16, participate in Mosney this weekend.
The Mosney holiday centre in Co Meath is holding the national finals of the HSE-sponsored event.
Bronze-Age Ireland re-enactment kicks off Heritage Week
A BRONZE age re-enactment took place on a historical sight at Rathgall Hillfort in Wicklow yesterday, to mark the launch of Heritage Week.
The nationwide festival will last until 3 September and will feature 500 different attractions.
Local and national community groups will be holding free events, including storytelling, guided tours and traditional dance classes, plus food and music.
