Success tastes sweet as Vennegoor strikes

SCOTTISH PREMIERLEAGUE CELTIC 2 HIBERNIAN 1

JANVennegoor of Hesselink scored on his debut to give Celtic a victory over Hibernian at Parkhead.

Zurawski had an early penalty appeal for the home side but it was the vistors who took the lead on eight minutes.

They broke down the field Merouane Zemmama skipped away from Neil Lennon before playing the ball to the overlapping Brown, who blasted a low right-foot shot past Marshall.

Hibernian started the second half brightly andStrachan knew something drastic was needed to lift his side, brininging Vennegoor of Hesselink for Miller moments.

But it was Zurawski who came to Celtic's rescue in the 52nd minute blasting home a Lee Naylor cross from 11 yards. Parkhead was jumping again in the 66th minute when Vennegoor of Hesselink pounced to score his first goal for the club.

McGeady was the instigator having ran at the Hibernian defence before seeing his left-foot shot come back off the right upright and into the path of the frontman to sidefoot home past the grounded Malkowski.
