IRELAND'S top 41 property tycoons are worth a staggering 5.8bn between them according to the annual rich list compiled by British property magazine Estates Gazette.
Developer Jim Mansfield is the top-ranked Irish person on the list, in 62nd position, with an estimated net worth of 396m.
Mansfield tops the list ahead of Ballymore Properties' founder Sean Mulryan ( 347m). The Roscommon builder, who rose to prominence with a series of successful residential schemes in London 's Canary Wharf during the 1990s. Lowprofile developer Gerard O'Hare ( 346m), the Newry man who heads up Parker Green International, is third.
Mountbrook Homes' Sean Dunne, meanwhile, is a new entrant on the 2006 list. Dunne made front page news last year with the 295m purchase of the former Jurys Doyle Hotel in Ballsbridge, at the time the most expensive piece of real estate in the country.
Estates Gazette estimates Dunne's net worth at 71m.
Published this weekend in the latest edition of Estates Gazette, the supplement lists 400 property millionaires in the UK and Ireland. Out of the 400 listed 41, just over one in ten, are Irish. According to Estates Gazette's valuation of their wealth the 41 are worth a combined £3.9bn ( 5.8bn), an average of 141m each.
