Three killed in separate crashes
THREE people have died in separate road traffic accidents around the country.
In Co Kerry, a 19-year-old local man was killed when the car he was a passenger in was involved in a collision with a jeep on Friday night. The driver of the car was seriously injured and the driver of the jeep sustained minor injuries.
A 20-year-old man was killed shortly before 2am yesterday after being struck by a car in Thomastown, Co Kilkenny. Meanwhile, another man was killed and two people were seriously injured in a collision on the Portadown Road in Armagh.
Two questioned about assault
GARDAI in Blackrock, Co Dublin, were yesterday investigating an assault on an 18-year-old man in Stillorgan Grove at around 11pm on Friday night. He was treated in intensive care in St Vincent's Hospital for his injuries, which were not thought to be life-threatening. Two men were arrested, but released pending further investigation.
Teenager shot in leg in Belfast
POLICE in north Belfast appealed for information yesterday after a 19-yearold man was shot in the Ardoyne area. A number of masked men grabbed the man at 4am and shot him in the right leg. It was the second punishment-style shooting in the area in a week.
Man charged over road-rage incident
A 55-YEAR-OLD man appeared in court yesterday over a road-rage incident which left a woman with a fractured skull. The assault happened on Friday in Lurgan, Co Armagh, after a dispute between motorists. The accused was charged with causing grievous bodily harm and assault.
