Volunteer for a place in history on Little Strand Street
Valerie Shanley

HOME and income, and a dash of history too, is on offer at Nos 4 and 4a Little Strand Street, in the seaside village of Skerries, Co Dublin. The sale comprises two 19th-century properties: the main, terraced, on-street cottage with three bedrooms and, to the rear, a stone-cut, two-storey mews with one bedroom. According to selling agents Gunne, the historical connection relates to a 1916 Irish Volunteer who grew up in the town.

The floor area of the main house is approximately 174sq m (1,872sq ft) and accommodation includes the entrance hall, kitchen/dining room, guest cloakroom, playroom, living room, three bedrooms (main en-suite), bathroom and office. In the mews, accommodation runs to the living room, kitchen/dining room, landing, bedroom and shower room.

A gated car port offers access to the rear where there is a walled, southwesterly garden with raised deck and barbecue. Little Strand Street is within a 10minute walk from the train station, while the town is 19 miles from the city centre.

Skerries itself is an oldworld village with tree-lined streets and a charming coastal location taking in a sandy beach and busy harbour.

Price: 1.25m Agent: Gunne 01-807 9700
