Lakeland properties to fetch 20m
Kieran Flynn

A DIVERSE portfolio of 16 properties owned by Lakeland Dairies in the border and midlands areas is for sale by tender and is expected to achieve in excess of 20m. The properties, available in one or more lots, range in size from 0.31 acres to 5.9 acres and are spread through counties Monaghan, Cavan, Louth, Longford and Westmeath.

A number of the properties, which represent Lakeland Dairies' entire agri-trading portfolio, are being sold with trading potential and/or subject to existing tenancies.

The portfolio includes a town centre and strategically located sites with development potential, subject to planning permission.

Niamh O'Connor of selling agent DTZ Sherry FitzGerald describes the sale as "an opportunity to acquire a broad range of short-, medium- and longterm development opportunities which would benefit from substantial redevelopment, subject to planning permission. We expect a huge volume of interest, as these properties will appeal to both local and national buyers."

A prospectus booklet detailing all the properties is available from the selling agent. The properties will be sold on Wednesday 29 November.

Sherry Fitzgerald is also the agent for a lakeside leisure complex on almost 74 acres in Co Cavan to be sold at tender on 22 November. It is likely to make over 3.5m for owners Coillte Teoranta.

The site is regarded as having considerable development potential, subject to planning permission.

Killykeen Holiday Complex is located to the northwest of Cavan town in a woodland setting woven around the lake and islands of Lough Oughter.

It is about two miles from Killeshandra. The site has 28 log cabins and has been operated as a holiday complex for over 20 years. It is currently run by Coillte Teoranta.

A new Radisson SAS hotel which has opened on the nearby Farnham estate includes a Jeff Howesdesigned championship golf course due for completion next year.

Niamh O'Connor is telling interested parties that the site is ideal for a luxury spa or upgraded holiday complex.

There is full planning permission for an additional 20 chalets and multi-purpose recreational building.
