RACING: NAAS REPORT CATCH ME, from the Edward O'Grady stable, followed up his previous win over the course and distance with further success under Barry Geraghty in the Fishery Lane Hurdle at Naas yesterday. The German import scored by seven lengths from Breathing Fire, and his odds for the Sun Alliance Novices Hurdle were trimmed further by Cashmans from 8/1 into 6/1.
The trainer said, "I think he'll stay over two miles in the short term and I'll step him up in distance in the New Year. He's in the Royal Bond Novices Hurdle, but nothing is written in stone as regards Cheltenham. What is written in stone is that I want him next March, but which race he runs in depends on the ground."
Trainer Robert Tyner has a very promising team of horses this season, and Young Desperado became the latest success story when landing the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase by a very comfortable 17 lengths from Yarra Maguire.
The Arthur Moore-trained The Railway Man was left clear by the fall of Luisikisiki, who brought down Kings Wilde and Molly Massini at the second last flight, to take the Racing Again At Naas On 7th January Hurdle by five lengths in the hands of Davy Russell.
The trainer went on to double up courtesy of Well Tutored's four length win, with his nephew Philip Carberry in the saddle, in the www. tote. ie Handicap Chase.
