LEXUS, famous for its range of luxury vehicles, has gone one better when it comes to in-car entertainment and comfort with the new LS460.
It boasts a 19-speaker 450 Watt Mark Levinson surround sound system which brings the music up to recording studio levels.
Coupled with the car's sound proofing, even the engine ticking over won't interrupt. The LS460 consigns the loud shutting of doors to history . . .
just a gentle tug and they will close automatically and silently.
While you listen to music or watch your DVD on a 9" full-colour LCD screen, the all-round laminated windows keeps the outside out. With a four-zone temperature control air conditioning system, everybody gets their own climate.
An air conditioner is built into the seats meaning there is no need to get hot under the collar, or anywhere else. It's all voice-activated as is your phone and radio; you don't even have to lift a finger.
Something has to do the work though. The driver gets a powerful 4.6-litre V8 engine which effortlessly develops 380 bhp, whispering its way up to 100 kms in 5.7 seconds through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The top speed is more than double the legal limit for motorways.
The LS460 is a big car built on a totally new platform. There's plenty of comfort room (the seats are stitched in such a way you don't feel the lining) as the front and rear multi-link suspensions glide you over the roughest surfaces.
The price tag is 127,500. Just 90 of these gentle giants will make their way to our shores.
It's time to decide if you deserve such luxury.
