FIRE FIGHTERS returning from a call-out in Derry were attacked with an air rifle, according to the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS). The crew, based at Northland Road in Londonderry, was fired upon with a laser sighted air-rifle at around 10pm on Friday. The crew cab window was cracked, but there were no injuries. An NIFRS spokesman said such "mindless attacks" put the lives of firefighters and the public at risk and appealed for anyone with information to come forward. "Not only were the lives of firefighters involved in this incident at risk, but also members of the public's lives are also put at risk with mindless attacks like this."
