The child hid two boxes of the building blocks under her coat and tried to walk out of a Wal-Mart in Largo.
When a store employee approached her, she opened her jacket and pulled out a 10-inch carving knife. The worker talked her into putting down the knife and the toys, and the girl then rode away on her bicycle.

THE amount, in euro, that a German doctor must pay in monthly child support to a patient who got pregnant with a contraceptive implant. The gynaecologist from Suedbaden inserted the implant into the woman's arm in 2002, but she later found she was pregnant. She claimed in court that she was unable to continue her work as a kindergarten teacher and could not support herself and the child. Germany's Federal Court refused to take into consideration that she had had a second child since filing her original complaint. Said Justice Gerda Mueller: "The existence of the child is not a damage in itself, but the need to support it financially is."

THE number of litres of Coca Cola drank by a Russian woman who has successfully sued the company for making her ill.
Natalya Kashuba (27) drank up to three litres of Coke a day for five years, and took legal action against the company after claiming she'd suffered insomnia and heartburn. She said she had become addicted to the drink as a result of a promotional offer that allowed consumers to swap Coca Cola caps for prizes, and dozens of inflatable mattresses and radios she won were presented as evidence. Two Russian courts agreed that Coca Cola had failed to warn of the potential health risks of drinking too much Coke and awarded Kashuba just 92, but she is now seeking a further 87,000 from Coca Cola in "moral damages".

THE length, in feet, of a cycle path built by council officials in Liverpool. Critics say the stretch of black tarmac along a pavement takes just a few seconds to cycle, and is pointless. But Cllr Peter Millea said it was part of an 80-metre cycle lane and was cheaper than the alternative of digging up the pathway. "It seemed logical, " he said.
