DEPRESSING STATS THE LEAST OF HIS WORRIES
Compiled by Mark Jones

The unfortunate Steven Bowditch has figured in this column, not regrettably for any great feats, but only for his nightmarish PGA Tour season. When the numbers were finally crunched, the Australian played in 22 events, missed 14 cuts, was disqualified four times and withdrew twice after the first round. As for the two tournaments in which he survived until the weekend, he earned $11,000. That left the 23 year old in 256th and last place of the fully exempt players, however, Bowditch has since revealed that he was suffering from depression and at one stage, went 13 nights in row without any sleep.

"You just sit there and look at the ceiling, and things are going through your mind that scare you.

When you can't break 90, you know you've a problem. By April, golf was the least of my problems.

It was time to get help."
