It was celebration time for the members of Powerscourt recently as they held a glittering 10th Anniversary Gala Ball at the Four Seasons Hotel in Ballsbridge. Over 200 people showed up for the sparkling occasion which saw owner Michael Slazenger and club captains Oliver Maloney and Suzi McMullen enjoy an evening recalling the many changes at the Enniskerry estate over the years.
Powerscourt has always been famous for a warm and friendly welcome to the many golfers who have traversed their fairways and this hospitality really came to light when they welcomed the members of Kilternan golf club on to their course over the last two years, while work started on the redevelopment of the Kilternan Hotel. This arrangement has been agreed again for the 2007 season.
Charities have also benefited from the existence of Powerscourt and this came home recently when a quiz night, with club professional Paul Thompson as quiz master, saw a staggering 42,000 raised for "Earn to Live".
