Country living close to the city
Brenda McNally

BUSY professionals looking for a dream home with an easy commute to the capital will be interested in a new luxury development just outside Kildare's so-called 'golden triangle'.

Situated between Kildare town, Newbridge and Kilcullen, Hawthorn Wood in Suncroft offers country living with all the modern conveniences and more. The small scheme of just 24 houses was launched on the market earlier in the year and now Jordan Town and Country Estates have released a further 7 units. Ideal for families looking for large four- and five-bed detached homes, just one unit remains in the first phase.

Accessibility to Dublin has been a major selling point for buyers, according to selling agent, Liam Hargaden of Jordan Town and Country Estates. "Almost 50% of buyers so far have been Dublinbased. Hawthorn Wood is just a 10-minute drive to the M7 and from there it's just a half hour drive to Newland's Cross. There is also the Arrow rail line at Newbridge and Kildare as well as buses."

Built by CCE Developments, Hawthorn Wood is comprised of two house types and the stylish, upmarket scheme boasts very large houses, above average finishes and generous allowances. The four-beds span 232sq m (2,500sq ft) and are priced from 680,000 and the five-beds span 279sq m (3,000sq ft) and are priced from 720,000. Purchasers will also have allowances totalling 21,000 which will cover kitchen fitout, tiling, fireplace and wardrobes.

The houses in this phase are due for completion in spring 2007.

Suncroft is a picturesque village with a good range of local shops, pubs, a national school and supermarket. It is also close to the business parks of the M50, Citywest and the airport. The recent opening of the Whitewater Shopping Centre in Newbridge has raised the standard of shopping locally and the Riverbank Arts Centre adds an alternative entertainment.
