Wilton sale a boost for Cork city's southside
Valerie Shanley

A MAJOR development opportunity in Cork city is about to come on the market through CBRE, offering the potential to create retail, office, medical and residential use. The Wilton Shopping Centre is on a seven-hectare site, but consists of 15,704sq m of existing space. Tesco previously acquired the shopping centre, then sold it on to the current owner. A Roches Stores unit on the site is understood to be under negotiations with another retailer.

The area has attracted new development in recent times, including the extension of Cork University Hospital, while a revitalised Wilton will offer a southside counterbalance to the Mahon Point scheme in the east of the city, say the selling agents.
