IN this first collaboration with Naive, the young Armenian violinist assumes a mature approach to the poetic depths of the Sibelius and the Khachaturian concerti, whilst imbuing them with wistful exuberance. He charts the technical route with ease but, moreover, in the slow movements he achieves varying degrees of majesty, grace and the bittersweet hope one would think a 21-year-old could not fathom.
This is a must-listen recording and a landmark in the progress of this dazzling star.
