After you've bought a copy or two of Beyond Our Wildest Dreams . . . The Story of Munster's Heineken Cup Odyssey for your nearest and dearest this Christmas (shameless plug number two . . . three more to go before 25 December), you could do a lot worse than get your mitts on a copy of Lansdowne Through the Ye a r s by Edward Newman, a superbly well written and immaculately researched account of rugby's days at the soon-to-bedemolished stadium. There were dozens of ways that Newman could have got this book wrong but the wide range of interviews with players, of"cials and journalists who've become intimate with the place over the years succeeds in painting an entertaining and fast-paced history of the old ground. It'll be a great reminder in a few years' time of how things used to be.
