Celtic Poles apart from dogged Aberdeen
Ronnie Eslpin Celtic Park

CELTIC substitute Maciej Zurawski scored the only goal of the game against Aberdeen to extend the Hoops lead at the top of the Scottish PremierLeague to 16 points.

The home side had turned in a poor performance until the Polish striker replaced Thomas Gravesen in the 67th minute before grabbing the breakthrough with a 12-yard drive just five minutes later.

However, Celtic had goalkeeper Artur Boruc to thank for the three points after he brilliantly saved a point-blank header from Lee Miller with only a minute remaining.

In a slow starting-game, it was until the 33rd minute a first chance presented itself after Jarosik had sent Miller through on goal, only for a great tackle by Aberdeen stopper Andrew Considine to foiled the Celtic striker.

However, with barely a minute of the first half to go, Miller missed the best chance of the game. After a Nakamura corner was cleared, Celtic defender Lee Naylor drove in a dipping volley which Langfield parried to his feet with the goal gaping.

However, with a goal seeming certain, Miller drove his shot wide under pressure from Anderson.

Aberdeen started the second half brightly but four minutes after the restart, Nakamura fired a 35-yard free-kick wide of the target as the home fans waited for a replay of the set-piece which had sunk Manchester United.

The growls from the disgruntled home support increased in volume as Celtic continued to toil.

Just before the hour mark McGeady pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the area but his left-footed effort went well wide of the target.

Seconds later the Republic of Ireland player did better from the same distance, forcing Langfield to dive low to his left and parry clear.

In the 67th minute, Gravesen was replaced by Zurawski and five minutes later the Polish striker shot the home side into the lead.

A Naylor cross from the left evaded the Dons defence and arrived at the Polish striker, who lashed his shot from 12 yards past Langfield.

But, in the final minute, Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc saved all three points when he brilliantly tipped a Miller header over the bar.
