Three die in road accidents



THREE people have been killed in separate road accidents in Antrim, Fermanagh and Kildare.

A man in his 60s was killed in a collision in Lisburn, Co Antrim at around 10pm on Friday night. Four other people were injured and taken to hospital following the crash but their injuries were not thought to be lifethreatening.

Another man died after a collision in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh after 8pm.

And in Kildare, a male pedestrian was fatally injured when he was struck by a car on the N4 at Leixlip shortly after 10pm, also on Friday night.

Meanwhile, a woman was yesterday being treated for serious injuries after two cars collided in Laois on Friday night. The incident occurred at Tolerton, Ballickmoyler, Laois at 7.15pm on Friday.

Four others were also treated for injuries. Gardai have appealed for witnesses to contact them at Abbeyleix.

The woman who died on Friday afternoon after her moped collided with a truck was yesterday named as 43-year-old Frances Hegarty of Castle Downs Road, Malahide, Dublin. The woman died after colliding with the truck at 1.20pm on Friday afternoon on the Malahide Road. Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
