PAUL HAMPEL, the man recently arrested in Canada and accused of being a spy for Russian security services, has agreed to be deported to Moscow. Hampel spent a number of years listed as a director of a now dissolved Irish company with an address in Dublin. Canadian security services said he had been engaged in espionage activities against Canada and elsewhere around the world and had established a "legend" on the name Hampel that allowed him to travel unimpeded. Hampel did not reveal his real identity. JM
