OUR Christmas No 1s may no longer be dictated by radio play, but by the online video library YouTube. With 100 million videos being watched every day, it's no surprise that tracks becoming hits on the website are starting to cross over. The first hit from YouTube is the bizarre novelty song '(Macarron) Chacarron'. The Spanish tune was written by El Chombo and Andy's Val Gourmet from Panama. The duo originally laid down the melody in a string of mumbles, with a view to replacing them with actual lyrics later, but decided that the mumbles sounded original and a hit was born. BBC Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills is spearheading a campaign to get the tune to number one.
