PEUGEOT has introduced a new 2.2 twin turbo HDi diesel engine to the 67 range. Using twin parallel turbochargers, the new diesel produces 170bhp at 400rpm and a maximum torque of 277 lb ft at 1,500 rpm. The saloon retails at 53,305.
The sequential twin parallel system consists of two identical, small-diameter turbochargers. At low speeds, a single turbocharger gives responsiveness and is supported by a second turbocharger which starts to operate in parallel between 2,600 and 3,200 rpm. These innovations improve driveability and enable driving at low engine speeds with reduced fuel consumption.
Standard equipment on the Peugeot 607 now includes Xenon headlamps, leather upholstery, heated seats, satellite navigation, parking sensors, 17" alloy wheels, ESP, cornering stability control, eight airbags, and climate control.
The new Peugeot 2.2 HDi twin turbo engine will also be available on the 407 saloon from January 2007, retailing from 40,500.
And Peugeot's new boxer van, to be launched on 18 December, sees the arrival of a completely renewed van range. Featuring improved road handling, comfort and additional carrying capacities, the new boxer has a more stylish interior. It will retail in Ireland from 24,070, or ex vat for 17,178.
