SUZUKI is planning to expand its range of vehicles here. From 1 January four new models will be introduced. The Swift range gets a 1.6-litre sport with highperformance potential, having won Irish Car of the Year last year.
The Sport Swift will have a high revving 16-valve VVT engine that will sprint to 100kms in 8.9 seconds with a top speed of 200kms/h. Traction control and 17" alloy wheels will be standard with twin exhausts, a new low grille, deep front bumpers and sports seats. The price will be 20,995. In the SX 4X4 range there is a 1.6-litre GLX high-spec addition to the 1.5 GL and GLS offerings. The emphasis here is on safety and comfort and the 4X4 drive system makes it suitable for a wide range of uses. Pedestrian safety protection has also been improved.
The price is 21,995.
Also new to the market is a Liana GL with low bumpers for ease of loading. A compact vehicle with room for five adults, it is priced at a reasonable 15,995.
There is also a Grand Vitara commercial. Up to now Grand Vitara was only available in passenger versions. It will have a 1.9-litre engine and will sell for 29,950 including VAT.
