Llanelli took a major step towards the quarter-"nals of the Heineken Cup with a 20-19 win over Toulouse at Stradey Park yesterday.
Scarlets, who play in Ulster's pool five, relied on skipper Simon Easterby's converted 52nd-minute try in gripping tussle that saw Toulouse wipe out an early 13-0 de"cit to lead by six points before the Ireland flanker struck.
Toulouse, European champions in 1996, 2003 and 2005, offered glimpses of their renowned counterattacking style as wing Vincent Clerc (2) and full-back Clement Poitrenaud claimed touchdowns.
But Llanelli were not to be denied, clocking up a third successive group win after Easterby followed lock Scott MacLeod over the Toulouse line, while fly-half Stephen Jones kicked two penalties and two conversions.
Meanwhile in Leinster's pool two, Gloucester enjoyed a 38-22 win over Edinburgh at Kingsholm. Mike Tindall and James Simpson-Daniel were among five try-scorers as the English club fought off a stern Scottish challenge
