A CENTRAL registry of wills, aimed at ensuring that the last wishes of the deceased do not go missing or undiscovered, moved closer to reality last week when the senate passed a private members' bill brought by Fianna Fail's Terry Leyden. He said a central registry, common in many EU states, would reduce the risk of wills remaining undiscovered.
"Many people's last wishes are not being honoured, " said Leyden. Having made Oireachtas history by getting the first private bill by a member of government through the senate, Leyden must now face down scepticism in the legal profession.
