GARDAI leading the investigation into the death of 16year-old schoolgirl Ciara Gibbs in Co Kilkenny last month are still waiting to interview the girl's mother about her death.
The girl is believed to have drowned in a bath at her rural home at Killure, between Paulstown, Goresbridge and Gowran, on 25 November.
Gardai believe that Gibbs' mother, Dr Lynn Hutchinson, was the only other person in the family home at the time of the girl's tragic death and they believe that after speaking to her they will know more about the girl's death.
Speaking to the Sunday Tribune this weekend, Superintendent Aidan Roche, who is leading the investigation, said, "We are still waiting to interview Ciara's mother and we are not sure when she will be able to be interviewed. Apart from that, there have been no further developments in the case."
Hutchinson, a psychiatrist, was found drifting in and out of consciousness in a "collapsed state" close to her daughter's lifeless body by her husband Gerard and teenage son Gearoid when they returned from an overnight visit to relatives in Tipperary at around 10am on Sunday 26 November.
The girl's mother is being treated in St Patrick's Hospital, Dublin. Gardai are currently unable to talk to her as she is not in a fit state for interview but they are in constant contact with the medical staff at the hospital to find out when Hutchinson's condition will have improved sufficiently for her to be interviewed.
