GOOD TASTE WITH JILLIAN BOLGER

Merry Kissmas

INNOCENT Smoothies are pretty delicious but they've now found a way to be even more appealing. The funky UK drinks company has posted out 10,000 sprigs of mistletoe to its 'family' - fans who registered at their entertaining website. They're also asking people to take lots of mistletoe-kissing photos over the festive season and post them on their special web group. The incentive for all this kiss and tell? A year's supply of smoothies to the three best kissers - best picture, best group kiss and the person who posts the most pictures of them kissing different people. You don't have to use Innocent's mistletoe, so grab your camera and get smooching now!

Fingered - favourite canapés 'TIS the season for party canapés - but not as we once knew them.

M&S may be canapé king when it comes to party food, but it has seen real changes in people's tastes in the last 10 years.

The spring roll now tops a trio of Asian party foods that have overtaken demand for sausage rolls, cocktail sausages and vol au vents, all favourites in 1996. Fish is also in fashion, with scallop and prawn dishes making Marks & Spencer's top 10 finger foods.

Cool and funky

TROPHY appliances are big news for foodies, and the latest to get a new look is Smeg's funky dishwasher. It might look cute and old school but it's as high-tech as any of the Italian company's cutting-edge kitchen technology.

If pink doesn't float your boat you can choose from seven other colours, allowing you to co-ordinate with Smeg's best-selling retro fridge. Price: around Euro1,399; call 01 460 0064 for stockists.

Oh Clarence Food-wise, you could try and restrain yourself over the festive season or, rather more pleasantly, you can embrace the gluttony wholeheartedly and start a diet of twigs and berries in the 2007. Fred Cordonnier's exquisite New Year's Eve menu at the Tea Rooms in the Clarence Hotel on Wellington Quay is the perfect gourmet bang on which to see out the year. It starts with a champagne reception and terrine of foie gras, pear, apple and raisin chutney with cranberries and brioche, and roasted breast of goose served with quince poached in mulled wine and truffle sauce are some of the delights in store. After the dinner, entertainment will be provided by jazz band, The Midnight Movers, and the price per person is Euro160. Call 01 407 0813 or visit
