DTZ SHERRY FitzGerald has acquired the business of McCormack Property Consultants, headed up by Sean McCormack and Maurice O'Neill. The company was set up in 2004 and specialises in valuations, rent reviews and commercial agency. The consultancy acts for major lending institutions and has a significant rent review business for both institutional and private clients.
Fintan Tierney, managing director of DTZ Sherry FitzGerald, says the acquisition forms part of the strategy to increase the non-transactional portion of his company's business.
The expectation is that Sean McCormack will concentrate on the further development of the professional services division within the group and that Peter Waller will move to head up the company's new corporate services department. Maurice O'Neill will join the investment department as a director.
According to McCormack, "our business had reached the point where we needed to invest heavily to cope with the increase in the level of business and therefore the approach was timely. We are looking forward to building our client base and improving our service as part of a national firm with strong international links which has grown significantly in the last few years and make a strong contribution to the future growth of the combined businesses."
In 2004 DTZ Sherry FitzGerald acquired CS Tierney O'Neill and Colliers Jackson Stops in Cork. The firm now operates nationally with offices in Dublin, Limerick, Cork and Galway and has in excess of 100 employees.
According to Fintan Tierney "we have now moved into a top three position in the marketplace and with the acquisition of McCormack Property Consultants, and the addition of the significant expertise and experience of both Sean and Maurice, I have no doubt that we can further consolidate our position as a leading commercial property advisory practice."
