CELEBRITY chef Gordon Ramsay is on the search for Irish restaurants in New York to take part in his new Fox television series, Kitchen Nightmares. The foul-mouthed chef, who is famed for his temper tantrums, will work at ailing restaurants in the city for one week, in a bid to discover their weaknesses and make them successful.
"It would be extra nice to have an Irish restaurant featured on the programme, " casting director Lisa Ganz told local paper, the Irish Voice. "It's hard work competing in the restaurant business in New York and there is no doubt that some Irish bars may be suffering because of this."
Ramsay has made a promise that he will turn even the most disastrous restaurants into overnight successes. "Ramsay's experience and hard edge will solve any problems from poor communication skills in the restaurant to different visions between chefs, staff and owner, " said Ganz.
News of the New York venture comes just after Ramsay announced he is to open his first Irish restaurant at the five-star RitzCarlton Hotel in Powerscourt, Co Wicklow.
The restaurant, which will seat 140 people and will incorporate a terrace and private dining rooms with views of the Sugarloaf mountain, is due to open in the autumn.
