FA PREMIERSHIP WEST HAM 3 FULHAM 3
PHILIPPE CHRISTANVAL'S stoppage-time equaliser robbed 10-man West Ham off a much-needed win after they looked set to move to within one point of Premiership safety. Yossi Benayoun thought he had beaten Fulham with his first two goals of the season after substitute Bobby Zamora hit his 100th league goal and first in 19 games before being sent off.
The Hammers lost two players to injury in the opening 14 minutes with Carlos Tevez and James Collins limping off, while Fulham went ahead to a deflection off Tomasz Radzinski, with their other goal coming from Brian McBride.
West Ham dominated early on but it was Fulham who hit first with a freak effort by Tomasz Radzinski. Heidar Helguson headed Wayne Routledge's cross towards goal and the ball appeared to hit Radzinski on the shin and deflect past Roy Carroll.
But Zamora had West Ham celebrating before the break when he outpaced his markers to slide his shot past Jan Lastuvka. Then West Ham went ahead after a sensational start to the second half.
Zamora helped the ball on with a neat touch and Benayoun struck a cracking shot into the far corner.
But Fulham kept fighting and when the Hammers failed to clear a corner, Moritz Volz knocked the ball across the box where McBride poked home. But it was Benayoun who again brilliantly restored the Hammers hard-won lead in the 64th minute when he slid his shot past Rosenior. There were more bookings for Zamora and then McBride as the battle continued at pace but it was Christanval and Fulham who had the last laugh.
