IRISH CRICKET TEAM SET FOR BRUSH WITH CONTROVERSIAL UMPIRE HAIR

Ireland's cricketers could be involved in the return to international cricket of controversial umpire Darrell Hair. The Australian is expected to stand in the forthcoming Tri Series and World Cricket League in Kenya, in which Ireland will attempt to qualify for the 20/20 World Cup finals.

The International career of Hair looked to have come to an end after the controversial England versus Pakistan Test match ended in farce.

After an inquiry, Percy Sonn, the ICC President stated that the organisation had lost confidence in Hair, and that he wouldn't be standing in any future internationals.

Hair stood as umpire in Ireland's first One Day Internationals in 2006, versus England, and is a hugely experienced of"cial, having stood in 76 Test matches, and 124 ODI's. The ICC is due to make a formal statement on the appointment on Sunday.
