AIB LEAGUE DIVISION ONE ST MARY'S 38 BLACKROCK COLLEGE 10 Templeville Road
ST MARY'S COLLEGE demolished an out of sort Blackrock College in a one sided AIL Division One clash at Templeville Road yesterday, the home side totting up six tries in the process.
St Mary's opened their account after three minutes when left winger Ronan Doherty went over for a try with out-half Jonathan Sexton failing to convert. Five minutes later Blackrock got on the score sheet when fullback Fionn Carr slotted over a penalty. But eight minutes before the break Mary's got their second try when Stephen Grissing went over for the first of his two tries to leave it 10-3 at half time.
Eight minutes after the break St Mary's lock Steve Bradshaw went over, and his effort was converted by Sexton. Two minutes later centre Phillip Brophy went over, with Sexton again adding the points to leave it 24-3. Blackrock replied with a try from lock Adam Byrnes converted by Carr but that was the end of the Blackrock scoring.
StMary's bagged further tries from tight head prop Robert Sweeney and Grissing, with Sexton adding to the points to put the seal on a convincing win.
