TEMPLE Street Children's Hospital has said it is convinced the Mater Hospital site is big enough to accommodate the new national children's hospital and that it is the best possible place to house the world-class facilities required, the Sunday Tribune has learned.
In a confidential document about to be submitted to the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the Department of Health and Children last month, Temple Street said there should be no further delay in the redevelopment of paediatric services and urged both Crumlin Children's Hospital and Tallaght Children's Hospital to re-enter talks.
"We believe the three children's hospitals in Dublin need to begin to work together as soon as possible to arrive at a shared understanding of the best solution - this is critical to the future success of the new hospital, " the report said.
