Thumbs-down for FG posters
Shane Coleman, Political Correspondent

FINE Gael's ironic 'Everything is just great' poster campaign has failed to grab public attention, based on the findings of the latest Frank Luntz-run focus group on RT?'s Week in Politics programme.

The second in the series of special programmes featuring the renowned Washington pollster is broadcast on RT? One tonight at 10.20pm. It shows the focus group giving a firm thumbs-down to the posters.

The group is shown two posters, including one with a picture of a tropical beach and the words 'Everything is just great', alongside figures showing an increase in the number of murders, rapes and gun crimes. But the reaction is negative, with focus group members - all undecided voters - complaining they are confusing and contain too much detail.

Tonight's programme comes from Clonmel in Tipperary and will be more issue-driven than the first programme.

However, the focus group is also asked to score a speech by Brian Cowen, regarded as favourite to succeed Bertie Ahern.
