DEASY A DOUBT Pres Cork's playmaker and captain Scott Deasy was withdrawn with an injury after scoring all his side's points in the 13-0 win over Rockwell in the Munster quarter-"nal on Wednesday. Deasy is touch-and-go for the semi-"nal against Crescent and should he fail to make it he will be a huge loss to the side as they to make the decider.
QUINN SO UNLUCKY Ireland and Ulster Schools fullback Chris Quinn must be the most unlucky schoolboy on the island. He missed out on the interprovincial championship with a knee injury. He had made it back to full fitness for the Schools Cup as he looked to make something out of the season. But now, he has dislocated his shoulder in a recent hit-out to probably rule him out for the season.
COLERAINE AT THE MILLENNIUM STADIUM The boys from Coleraine Academical Institute enjoyed last weekend. They outscored top Welsh school Ysgol Clantaff 27-24, with centre Peter Gilpin crossing for two tries, before cheering on one of their past-pupils, Andrew Trimble, at the Millennium Stadium. Of course he was on the winning side as well.
RÍS OUT OF LUCK Ard Scoil Rís were out of luck in their 9-7 Munster quarter-final heartbreak against Crescent on Wednesday. Frontline kicker Declan O'Rahilly was called ashore just before they were awarded a shot from 30 metres out, with three minutes left to play, that would have won the match. Without his boot they fell in the closest of encounters as Ard Scoil Rís advanced to the last four.
ROCK BOTTOM Rockwell's image as a Munster powerhouse in schools rugby is somewhat misleading in that their 500-strong head count is partly taken up with 160 girls and 80 oneyear foreign students. It doesn't leave many bodies to compete with the likes of Pres (650) and Christians (800).
