A house with a fine Heritage - No 11, Rathmiles Grove, Co Laois: from Euro625,000
Brenda McNally

MEMBERSHIP of the Seve Ballesteros-designed championship course at the Heritage Golf Club in Co Laois is a hotly discussed topic among golfing enthusiasts, particularly as it is now closed. But not to everyone, however.

The purchaser of the last remaining house at the fivestar golf and spa resort will also find themselves in the enviable position of gaining access to this exclusive club.

Not that the properties don't stand up to scrutiny by themselves. Far from it, and at just one hour's journey time to Dublin, these homes make a statement not easily found in most new housing schemes.

Fully furnished in a classical period style, No 11 Rathmiles Grove is an impressive, detached, double-fronted home. It includes original pieces of art and antiques sourced by the resort's own fine furniture and art store, The Gandon Gallery, which also carried out the interior design on this house.

There is a great sense of space throughout due in part to the nine-foot-six-high ceilings and clever design. The property features four large bedrooms, all of which are en-suite and includes a sauna and a luxurious hydro bath, three large reception rooms, a stunning entrance hall, large kitchen with separate utility room, a balcony and a guest bathroom downstairs.

The large drawing room which stretches the length of the house is a major attraction. Ideal for entertaining this room opens to a formal dining room. Warm gold fabrics have been mixed with soft creams to create the perfect palate for the original art pieces that hang on the walls and throughout the entire house.

The American-style kitchen features Italian granite worktops, an island and Waterford Stanley oven.

Other features include natural gas fired central heating, molded centre pieces, skirting and architraves and the beautiful solid mahogany staircase.

Interested buyers will need to hurry as only four units remain at the resort which is now complete and these homes are ready to occupy. As well as the detached family home there are two duplex units (spanning 1,797sq ft) and one ground-floor apartment (spanning Euro625,000sq ft).
