Bill Frisell/Ron Carter/Paul Motian Untitled Nonesuch . . .
Nonesuch obviously took the view that the names of the musicians would be sufficient, and as they are the names of, respectively, the most innovative guitarist of his generation, the hugely influential bassist from Miles Davis's fabled '60s quintet, and one of the greatest drummers in the history of American music, they were probably right. Deceptively naA ve in places, and often maddeningly subtle, as if the musicians are too cool to be obvious, this is nonetheless worth it just to hear one of the rhythm sections that will be playing in heaven when you get there.
