LEINSTER UNDER-21 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP DUBLIN 1-8 MEATH 2-9 Parnell Park
TWO first-half goals from Jamie Queeney saw Meath progress in yesterday's Leinster under-21 championship clash at Parnell Park. The two teams were locked on 02 each when the Na Fianna forward rounded the keeper to find the back of the net on seven minutes. And although Meath senior panelist, Cian Ward, sent over an additional 45, the Royal county then went 12 minutes without a score during which time Dublin landed three unanswered points, two coming thanks to Diarmuid Connolly. Cathal O'Dwyer then resumed the scoring for Meath.
A Ward point restored parity before Queeney then found the top-hand corner to leave it 2-5 to 1-5 at the break.
Meath resumed the second half with scores from Ward and Cathal O'Dwyer before Dublin ended a 24 minutes spell without a score with a free from John O'Brien. But Meath hit back with points from Rory Maguire and Queeney. A double block off a Blaine Kelly denied Dublin a goal but it still would not have been enough to prevent their exit.
