WEare now such sophisticated consumers that when we shop, the goods themselves are not enough;
we want to tap into the complete lifestyle. Sarah Gill, who opened the store Seagreen, in Monkstown, Co Dublin, 12 weeks ago, is cognisant of that fact, which is why the store proffers an eclectic range of high-end fashion, furniture and luxury gifts.
Rather like an Irish version of cult LA store Kitson, it's the kind of shop that once you cross the threshold, it's very difficult to leave without purchasing something, even if it's only a scone and a cuppa in Ellen's Tea Rooms, so called after Gill's grandmother.
Labels stocked here . . . such as Paul & Jo, Cacharel, Tracy Reese and Anna Sui . . . aren't usually well represented in Ireland. The Botkier handbags have proved to be a huge hit with savvy shoppers and the shop is already on its third order of Melissa Odabash swimwear, proof, as if we needed it, that the Irish are holidaying more than ever.
