Brassil has a real chance of doubling up
Claire Barry

THIS afternoon's meeting at Naas is being billed as the racecourse's Paddy Power Cheltenham Trial Day where a number of horses, notably Nickname and Schindlers Hunt, will be having their final prep race before next month's all-important Cheltenham Festival.

The Martin Brassil-trained Nickname, a live Queen Mother Champion Chase contender, is bidding for his fourth win in a row in the Grade 2 paddypowerpoker. com Newlands Chase and, with the ground conditions very much in his favour, Ruby Walsh's mount should not be opposed.

The Barry Geraghty-ridden Tumbling Dice may be the one to give him most to do.

Brassil has a good chance of doubling up courtesy of More Like Him, with Tony McCoy in the saddle, in the three-mile W.A. Osborne & Co. Handicap Hurdle.

The Dessie Hughes-trained Schindlers Hunt, who was last seen out collecting at Leopardstown, goes in search of further success under Roger Loughran in the Grade 2 Anglo Irish Bank Nas Na Riogh Novice Chase, but in receipt of 7lb Patsy Hall, from the Michael Cunningham stable, is preferred. Don't overlook the chances, either, of the hat-trick seeking Benefit Night.

Eoin Griffin's good moneyspinner Kazal, a soft-ground specialist who captured the Grade 2 Slaney Hurdle over this course and distance in January en route to landing a graded novice hurdle at Leopardstown's AIG meeting, will have his share of supporters in the Grade 2 paddypower. com Johnstown Novice Hurdle but it may pay to take a chance instead with the Mag Mullins-trained Chomba Womba.

Paddy Power are offering a ?28,000 bonus to any horse who follows in the footsteps of Pizarro and Hairy Molly by winning the paddypower. com (Pro-Am) Flat Race and goes on to achieve further success in Cheltenham's Champion bumper. Limerick scorer The Gallop Master is one to be considered, along with the Sue Magnier-owned Western Kid, a newcomer from the Christy Roche yard, but the Austin Leahy-trained Humber Valley, who is rated on a par with Shannon Spray by her trainer, holds more appeal.

Robert Tyner's good bumper performer Glenfidick has shown he handles soft ground well and may be the answer to an open-looking Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Maiden Hurdle, while Jigalo is the highest-rated horse in the line-up for the paddypowercasino. com Handicap Hurdle.

Adding further interest to the occasion at Naas, there will also be several parade ring interviews carried out with jockeys and trainers throughout the afternoon.
